About the role#
The Human Resources Intern will support the department with administrative tasks, policy management, and software implementation. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position located in Hampton, Virginia. The internship operates on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Gather and write departmental policies and standard operating procedures.
- Shadow staff to assist with creation and organization of policy binders.
- Revise onboarding paperwork and convert documents into fillable electronic formats.
- Manage personnel files by entering new hire data and removing terminated files based on federal recordkeeping laws.
- Create an onboarding and benefits orientation presentation.
- Assist with employee engagement strategies.
- Support the configuration of Dayforce HCM and MedTrainer software.
- Present a final summary of your internship experience, skills developed, and project outcomes to mentors and peers at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Human Resources or Business Administration program, or graduation within the last 12 months from an accredited institution.
- Proof of good academic standing and a copy of your academic class schedule.
- A recent resume and cover letter.
- A copy of your course syllabus if you are seeking academic credit.
