About the role#
Halff is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern to join the Water Resources team in Baton Rouge. This is a full-time, paid internship running from June 7, 2027, through August 13, 2027. You will work on-site, 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from 8a to 5p.
What you'll do#
- Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer.
- Assist with drainage and stormwater analysis and design.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Water Resources projects.
- Perform drafting work using CAD software.
- Conduct calculations and analysis for design projects.
- Prepare permit applications and regulatory documents.
- Coordinate with team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors.
- Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master program for Civil Engineering or an ABET accredited equivalent degree.
- Experience with HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is preferred.
- Strong communication, relationship building, and team collaboration skills.
- Self-motivation and organizational ability.
