About the role#
The Guardian Summer Internship in Underwriting is a 10-week paid program. You will work on-site in Bethlehem, PA, from May 27, 2027, to August 6, 2027. This role is for current juniors expecting to graduate in May 2028. You will gain experience in a financial services environment by working on projects that affect the business and interacting with team members and senior leaders.
What you'll do#
- Participate in training to understand the Underwriter role.
- Join a team that assesses risk and decides on appropriate rate levels.
- Identify and communicate trends to support key financial measures.
- Learn about Guardian products, services, and company values.
- Build a professional network and engage with other interns.
- Ask questions and think broadly about data and facts.
- Work with mentors and leaders who will coach your professional development.
What you'll need#
- Comfort working with math, numbers, and detailed information.
- Analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Coursework or interest in finance, economics, business, risk management, or insurance.
- Ability to interpret data and identify patterns to support decisions.
- A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative approach to building relationships in a team environment.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
