About the role#
This is a 10-week paid summer internship program running from May 27, 2027, to August 6, 2027. You will work within the Digital & Technology department at Guardian Life. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to business-critical projects while gaining experience in the financial services industry. You will work alongside mentors and team members to develop your professional skills and build your network.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data.
- Build scalable data products using structured and semi-structured data sources.
- Apply cloud-based data engineering technologies including Python, SQL, AWS, and Databricks.
- Perform data quality validation, monitoring, testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineers to turn business requirements into technical solutions.
- Explore AI-assisted engineering and automation to improve data-driven decision making.
- Develop your skills in data exploration and analysis.
- Learn about the company, its values, and its service offerings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore or junior in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- A self-starter mindset with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
- Exposure to programming with Python and SQL.
- Understanding of databases, data structures, and data processing concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, distributed data processing, or modern data engineering technologies.
- Interest in data engineering, analytics, or large-scale data platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

- This is a full-time, on-site internship.
- Available locations: Bethlehem, PA; Holmdel, NJ; or New York, NY.
- Housing is not provided by the company.
