About the role#
Griffith Company offers a paid summer internship program for students interested in a career in heavy civil construction. This program provides exposure to real-world tasks and allows interns to work alongside project managers, estimators, and field personnel. You will have opportunities to engage with company executives, attend information sessions, and visit active construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Perform job site administration and documentation under supervision.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule.
- Track project budgets, quantities, equipment, and project logs.
- Attend bid review meetings to understand the estimating process.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and site conditions to determine the scope of work.
- Complete material and quantity take offs.
- Assist superintendents and foremen with layout and technical requirements.
- Help with diesel emissions control plans, monitoring, and the preparation of work or storm water protection plans.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to assist in project scheduling.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Locations: Bakersfield, Brea-Orange County, San Diego, and Santa Fe Springs-Los Angeles County, California.
- Compensation: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour, based on experience.
