About the role#
The Education Department Intern works with professional educators to lead programs for learners of all ages. You will help share the mission of Grace Farms through daily activities and pop-up events. This role helps you build public speaking skills and gain experience with place-based teaching techniques. You may choose to receive school credit or hourly pay for this position.
What you'll do#
- Support the Education Team with programs like Bunny Book Group, Open Arts Studio, Earth Day, and the 10 Year Celebration.
- Handle set up and clean-up for daily programming and report schedule changes to your supervisor.
- Partner with the Events and Visitor Experience Team to greet guests, manage registration, and assist with wayfinding.
- Collect data to help the team analyze program effectiveness.
- Contribute to the research and development of new public programs.
What you'll need#
- Interest in fields such as Education, English, Communications, Performing Arts, Nature, Science, or History. Working toward a B.A. or B.S. is a plus.
- Prior experience teaching in formal or informal settings, or experience as a docent, museum guide, or visitor experience professional.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- A proactive approach to learning about a wide variety of topics.
- Ability to stay calm and professional during busy or high-stress periods.
- Proficiency with computers and electronic communication tools.
- Punctuality and a reliable team-player attitude.
Location & details#
- This role is located on-site in New Canaan, Connecticut.
- The term runs from September through May.
- You will work 3 days per week, and Saturdays are required.
- Some evening and weekend hours are expected.
- You must be able to walk, stand, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
