About the role#
GPI is seeking interns for the Summer 2027 term to join our engineering teams in Bedford, New Hampshire. This full-time, on-site position offers students the chance to work on projects related to civil, bridge, highway, and water resources engineering. You will work alongside experienced project teams to gain hands-on experience in the design and construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Perform field investigations and participate in inspections of project locations and active construction sites.
- Conduct engineering analysis and design tasks.
- Prepare organized engineering calculations and assist with report writing.
- Use 3D CADD software for detailing and drafting.
- Assist with geometric layout, quantity development, and plan development.
- Review contractor submittals.
- Develop deliverables for review by a Senior Engineer.
- Work independently while following the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
- Complete assigned tasks according to project schedules and budgets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an engineering degree program.
- Interest in civil, structural, or highway engineering.
- Knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to read, write, and understand plans and directions in English.
- A valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report.
- Ability to traverse uneven ground on construction sites.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety vests, work boots, and safety glasses.
