About the role#
Goodwyn Mills Cawood is hiring a Transportation Intern to support ongoing projects in our Huntsville office. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship offered on a rolling basis. You will work on a variety of transportation engineering tasks while gaining exposure to both office and field environments.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports, site plans, permit documents, construction schedules, and studies.
- Direct technicians in the production of engineering documents for routine projects.
- Review completed project documents for quality assurance and conformity.
- Assist in reviewing and defining scope of work issues alongside consultants and contractors.
- Represent the firm in project assignments and professional interactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- A Foundations of Engineering Certificate (EIT) is preferred.

- Location: Huntsville, Alabama.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Travel: This role involves approximately 80% office work and 20% field work. Field assignments may involve exposure to various weather conditions and environmental factors, requiring the use of protective gear.
