About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work alongside experienced bridge engineers on transportation infrastructure projects throughout North and South Carolina. You will gain practical experience in the planning, design, and construction support of bridges and related structures.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks on transportation projects.
- Assist with engineering studies, field investigations, and design calculations.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Maintain project documentation.
- Learn to use industry-standard software like OpenBridge Designer, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and Bluebeam.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in Structural and Bridge Engineering.
- Ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Charlotte, North Carolina or Raleigh, North Carolina.
- The program is scheduled to begin on May 17, 2027, and lasts for 12 weeks.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
