About the role#
This internship provides students with hands-on experience in civil engineering. You will work on a variety of projects in our Charleston office, supporting our team with site planning, documentation, and project coordination. You will receive guidance from managers and colleagues to support your professional development.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports, technical memorandums, site plans, permit documents, and construction schedules.
- Apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision.
- Direct technicians for the production of engineering documents.
- Execute cross-discipline checks and coordinate with consultants and contractors.
- Review project documents for quality assurance and conformity.
- Identify and report risk management issues to the Project Engineer.
- Represent the firm in project assignments and respond to inquiries from clients or regulatory agencies.
- Present information in both oral and written formats.
- Participate in individual development planning, local professional societies, and community service activities.
- Provide input to improve project delivery processes.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Experience with Civil3D is preferred.
- A/E or EPC experience is a plus.
- Foundations of Engineering Certificate (EIT) is a plus.

- Location: Charleston, South Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
- The role requires 80% office work and 20% field work. Field work may involve exposure to various weather conditions, temperatures, and environmental elements. Proper protective clothing and gear are required for field assignments.
