About the role#
GM Performance Power Units is looking for a Gym Design Intern to help plan and install an employee wellness space at a new Formula 1 facility in Concord, North Carolina. This role offers hands-on experience in facility design, equipment selection, and project coordination. You will work with the facilities team to build a functional and safe gym environment.
What you'll do#
- Create floor plans and sketches for the gym layout.
- Research fitness equipment and current industry trends.
- Plan equipment placement to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Prepare design proposals, presentations, and project documentation.
- Assist with vendor coordination, budgeting, and equipment procurement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and track project timelines.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in health and exercise science, physical therapy, or a related field.
- Interest in personal training.
- Basic knowledge of design and space planning.
- Familiarity with documentation practices.
- Understanding of fitness trends and safety standards.
- Ability to work in diverse operational environments, including high-traffic or loud areas.
