About the role#
This summer internship offers an opportunity to work with an RF device modeling team on advanced SiGe HBT devices. You will apply device physics to create compact models for RF applications and analyze how high current densities and non-quasistatic phenomena impact device performance.
What you'll do#
- Develop HiCUM L2 V3.0 based compact models for HBT devices.
- Characterize devices using DC and RF methods.
- Extract compact model parameters based on advanced device physics.
- Analyze measurement data to refine model accuracy.
- Develop procedures to incorporate new physical effects into compact models.
- Propose new modeling methods and present findings to the technical team.
- Follow all safety, health, and security protocols.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as at least a second-year graduate student pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field.
- A minimum overall 3.5 GPA and good academic standing.
- Ability to work 20 to 40 hours per week.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of semiconductor device physics and characterization.
- Familiarity with device compact models, specifically HiCUM.
- Experience with simulation tools like Cadence Spectre or Keysight ADS.
- Familiarity with design layout tools such as Cadence Virtuosa.
- Programming skills in Python, Perl, Lisp, Matlab, R, or shell scripting.
- Prior internship or co-op experience, leadership experience, and project management skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Essex Junction, Vermont, United States.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
