About the role#
Genuine Parts Company is hiring a Supplier Quality Intern for the Summer 2027 program. This is a full-time, 10-week internship based in Atlanta, Georgia. You will work on-site from May 24 to July 30, 2027, with a 40-hour work week scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What you'll do#
- Observe and document processes for new product introduction, procurement initiatives, and supplier quality issues.
- Identify goals and key success metrics for various processes.
- Map out workflows using visualization tools and record key attributes for each step.
- Apply engineering problem-solving techniques to standardize the intake, export, and expiration of parts.
- Use lean principles to improve office layout, including 5S and kaizen events.
- Evaluate engineering equipment to develop plans that maximize productivity.
- Assist team members with documentation and recommend ways to streamline or automate tasks.
- Shadow team members to learn day-to-day operations in product engineering and quality.
- Identify and quantify supplier warranty and labor cost recovery opportunities.
- Provide analytical support and negotiation data to Category Managers.
- Support supplier recovery negotiations and implementation.
- Establish tracking and reporting mechanisms to measure recovery performance and savings.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a rising junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Engineering Drawing Analysis and CAD Design.
- Strong analytical aptitude.
- Exposure to Vizio and Smartsheet is preferred.
- A GPA of 3.25 or above is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
