About the role#
This internship offers a chance to join Gentherm for the Summer 2027 term. You will work within a cohort of students to gain professional experience through a dedicated project. This program bridges classroom knowledge with practical application in a corporate environment. You will collaborate with UX designers, engineers, and product managers to support our design goals.
What you'll do#
- Create wireframes, user flows, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Translate technical product capabilities into user-centered experiences.
- Build functional prototypes using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Refine interface components, animations, and micro-interactions.
- Produce motion graphics and visual assets using Adobe Creative Suite and After Effects.
- Support user research, usability testing, and occupant studies.
- Maintain design documentation, component libraries, and UX systems.
- Participate in design reviews and prepare visuals for stakeholder presentations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess technical feasibility.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or certificate program related to UX/UI design, interaction design, digital design, animation, or front-end development.
- Completion of freshman year by the start of the internship.
- A portfolio showing skills in UX/UI design, prototyping, or motion design.
- Working knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Foundational experience with animation tools like Adobe After Effects.
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Interest in human factors, ergonomics, and user behavior.
- Strong visual design, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to receive feedback and work well within multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft products.

- Location: Novi, Michigan.
- Modality: On-site, 4 to 5 days per week.
- Duration: May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
