About the role#
General Motors is seeking a Performance Analysis Intern for the Summer 2027 program. You will join a small, specialized team focused on deriving insights from data and tools within the GM Motorsport program. You will work alongside a senior mentor to complete a primary project that addresses current team priorities. This role involves complex analytical tasks, including the development of performance metrics, refinement of simulation tools, and the implementation of new data extraction methods.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with personnel across various departments within GM Motorsports.
- Learn and use specialized industry toolchains and software packages.
- Complete a primary project, which includes analyzing potential solutions and proposing a course of action.
- Perform technical analysis and development work using your understanding of vehicle dynamics and data.
- Document your work by versioning code in GitHub and detailing procedures in Confluence.
- Produce a final report summarizing your findings and project process.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics.
- Graduation date of January 2028 or later.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the summer.
- Demonstrated interest in motorsports, such as involvement in Formula SAE, the Indy Autonomous Challenge, or similar project teams.
- Completed coursework in system dynamics, controls, or vehicle dynamics.
- Proficiency in Python or a similar language, with experience interfacing with databases.
- Note that GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
Location & details#
- Location: Concord, North Carolina.
- Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid role requiring attendance at the Charlotte Technical Center at least four days per week.
- Term: Summer 2027, with start dates available on May 24th or June 14th.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
