About the role#
The Waterfront Engineering team supports the construction, maintenance, and modernization of Fast Attack Submarines. As an intern, you will work directly on shipyard challenges to keep testing and delivery schedules on track. This role involves collaboration with Navy partners and internal teams to ensure submarines meet required standards.
What you'll do#
- Provide troubleshooting support directly on the submarines.
- Investigate and document technical responses to non-conformances.
- Resolve issues related to supplier products.
- Perform engineering calculations.
- Prepare for and execute maintenance and modernization availabilities.
- Modify technical manuals and publications.
- Participate in ship testing and document design changes.
- Support construction engineering through shipboard troubleshooting and equipment design.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student at a college or university.
- Completion of at least your freshman year by Summer 2027.
- Pursuit of a B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for at least 8 consecutive weeks during Summer 2027.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- Positions are available in Groton, New London, and North Stonington, CT; North Kingstown and Newport, RI; Kings Bay, GA; and Puget Sound, WA.
- Relocation assistance and housing stipends are not provided.
