About the role#
Generac is offering a full-time Industrial Engineering Internship for the Summer 2027 term. This program provides students with hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support product development, design, and manufacturing projects. This position is on-site and requires a 40-hour work week.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineers to fulfill special design requests.
- Create 2D cross sections, 3D models, and tolerance stack-ups for parts and assemblies.
- Develop Pro-E models, drawings, and templates.
- Manage and update Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Design, validate, and bring new products to market while supporting development plans.
- Specify functional requirements and evaluate designs for effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Execute fitness-for-use testing and process validation plans.
- Work with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, and product specialists to optimize designs.
- Use CAD and CAE systems to model new designs and produce detailed drawings.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects and interface with internal teams.
- Travel to other Generac facilities as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering.
- Completion of your Sophomore year.
- Working knowledge of Pro-E or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
