About the role#
As a Mechanical Design Intern, you will join the Hydro division at GE Vernova. You will work within the engineering team responsible for solving technical issues discovered during the installation, startup, and operation of hydro-electric turbines and alternators. You will support a team of 12 experienced engineers while gaining hands-on exposure to site support, reliability, and operations. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Solve technical issues related to anomalies found during site installation, manufacturing, commissioning, or machine operation.
- Perform strength of materials calculations.
- Modify and design mechanical equipment.
- Provide technical recommendations following the inspection of components on-site.
- Produce engineering documentation required to procure turbine or alternator parts.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Less than 2 years of work experience outside of internships or summer jobs.
- Strong knowledge of strength of materials and machine elements.
- Practical experience in mechanical system design.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both French and English.
- A curious, creative, and reactive approach to problem-solving.
