About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship based in Naples, Florida. We are looking for students or recent graduates who want to report local news and turn it into engaging video and social-media content. You will work within our newsroom to reach audiences across various digital platforms.
What you'll do#
- Report and write weekly stories, including breaking news, features, event coverage, and trending topics.
- Pitch, shoot, edit, and publish video content for websites, YouTube, and social media.
- Create social-media posts tailored to specific platforms, engage with audiences, and use performance data to guide your work.
- Conduct interviews in person, by phone, or virtually.
- Research and gather information from a variety of sources.
- Collaborate with the local newsroom and our statewide teams on multiplatform storytelling.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a journalism or communications program (must be at least a junior).
- Strong skills in writing, research, and fact-checking, along with familiarity with AP style.
- Experience using AI and automation tools to enhance journalism.
- Critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to new tasks.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to pass a background check.
