About the role#
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is offering paid, part-time journalism internships for the fall of 2026. This program is designed for students and recent graduates interested in reporting, producing, social media, photography, or videography. We are specifically looking for candidates with an interest in education, politics, high school sports, and video production. Interns will participate in training led by veteran journalists covering ethics, interviewing, source development, and open records.
What you'll do#
- Write 4 to 5 stories per week, including breaking news, features, and event coverage.
- Conduct interviews in person, by phone, or virtually.
- Research and gather information from various sources.
- Produce multimedia content to support stories.
- Collaborate in brainstorming sessions.
- Create social media content and write headlines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a journalism, communications, or media studies program (junior year or beyond preferred).
- Strong writing, research, and fact-checking skills.
- Critical thinking, adaptability, and attention to detail.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
- Availability for some evening and weekend work.
