About the role#
Gannett Fleming is hiring a Water Engineering Intern to join our team in State College. This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027. You will work on a team providing design services for water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects. You will receive mentorship from experienced professionals throughout the program.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the planning, design, and construction administration of infrastructure projects.
- Assist with site visits, surveys, inspections, and data collection.
- Prepare reports, design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Review subdivision, land development, grading, and zoning plans, including stormwater management and erosion control.
- Prepare permit applications for federal, state, and local agencies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in water or wastewater engineering through prior work, internships, or coursework.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in the field and contribute to project teams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with BIM, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, and other specialty engineering software is preferred.
- Experience with municipal and private utilities is a plus.

- Location: State College, Pennsylvania.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Mid-May through mid-August 2027.
- Compensation: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and location.
- Note: This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check.
