About the role#
Join the Dams and Hydraulics team at Gannett Fleming for a summer internship. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects that protect communities and critical infrastructure. This role focuses on the design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of dams, levees, spillways, and hydraulic structures. You will gain hands-on experience while contributing to projects that improve infrastructure resilience and manage flood risks.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering analyses and design efforts for new dams, rehabilitation projects, levees, spillways, and outlet works.
- Apply engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and design criteria to project tasks.
- Participate in technical meetings, design discussions, and collaborative team sessions.
- Assist with field investigations and site visits to evaluate existing conditions.
- Help prepare technical reports, memoranda, plans, specifications, and presentations for clients and regulators.
- Contribute to projects that improve infrastructure resilience and reduce flood risk.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in dams, hydraulic structures, water resources, or infrastructure resilience.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A desire to learn from experienced professionals.
- Familiarity with GIS applications, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, or HEC-HMS is preferred.

- Term: Summer 2027 (Mid-May through mid-August).
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
