About the role#
GAI Consultants, Inc. is hiring a Distribution Line Intern to join our Power Delivery team in Orlando. This is a temporary, three-month position that requires you to work on-site. You will work under the direction of lead engineers and project managers to support our design projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and project managers with daily project tasks.
- Prepare specification packages and distribution line drawings.
- Analyze existing and proposed structures against client codes and standards.
- Perform electrical clearance checks and calculations.
- Coordinate and develop permits for railroads, roadways, and environmental crossings.
- Apply engineering principles to power delivery project designs.
- Perform complex tasks while following established internal processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably civil engineering.
- Completed coursework in Statics, Material Science, and Structural Analysis.
- Preferred coursework in Soil Mechanics, Steel Design, and Concrete Design.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports and regulations.
- Proficiency in writing reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from staff.
- Willingness to learn software specific to the power delivery industry.
