About the role#
GAI Consultants is hiring a Distribution Intern for our Power Delivery Team. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work on-site at our Homestead, Pennsylvania office, assisting engineers and project managers with transmission line and distribution design.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day project tasks to ensure successful delivery.
- Prepare specification packages and structural or fabrication drawings.
- Design and analyze transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower.
- Design and analyze foundations.
- Analyze existing and proposed structures against relevant codes, standards, and specifications.
- Perform electrical clearance checks and calculations.
- Coordinate and develop permits for railroad, roadway, and environmental crossings.
- Apply engineering principles to power delivery projects while following established processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably civil engineering.
- Completion of Statics and Material Science courses.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports and regulations.
- Attention to detail and a team-focused mindset.
- Developed technical, communication, and computer skills.
- Eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to real-world tasks.
