About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work on the design, development, and deployment of systems for autonomous metal 3D printing factories. You will join an engineering team focused on building production-ready platforms, working on projects that range from mechanical design and prototyping to system integration. This role is full-time and on-site for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Own a project from start to finish that impacts critical print factory capabilities.
- Design, build, prototype, and test mechanical components, subassemblies, and systems.
- Perform tolerance analysis and mechanical feasibility studies.
- Participate in hands-on builds, system integration, and validation.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to improve system performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in mechanical or aerospace engineering at an ABET accredited university.
- Hands-on design experience from internships or engineering clubs like FSAE, Baja SAE, rocket clubs, or robotics teams.
- A strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to take a first-principles approach to solving problems.
- A genuine interest in improving metal 3D printing technology.
