About the role#
FMC Corporation is looking for summer interns to join our research station teams. This program provides hands-on experience with crop protection compounds, covering early synthesis, field testing, and registration requirements. Interns work with peers to meet objectives while following corporate safety guidelines.
What you'll do#
Interns assist field station managers with the evaluation program for pre-commercial crop protection compounds. Key tasks include:
- Setting up small plot field trials.
- Calibrating equipment, measuring and mixing pesticides, and spraying plots.
- Collecting data and maintaining plots.
- Monitoring insect traps and performing field scouting.
- Assisting with general farm operations like planting, cultivating, irrigating, discing, or mowing.
- Summarizing field trial results using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and internal computer systems.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a School of Agricultural, Plant Sciences, or a similar discipline.
- Completion of at least the first year of undergraduate studies.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Physical ability to carry a 20 to 50 lb. backpack over uneven ground.
- Experience handling farm equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word.
