About the role#
Five Star Bank offers a Summer Associate Program for students interested in a career in financial services. This internship provides hands-on experience across areas like Digital Banking, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and IT Operations. You will work on enterprise-level IT systems and receive guidance from a mentor and manager throughout the program.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing and enhancing digital platforms.
- Support infrastructure projects and help maintain system performance.
- Contribute to automation initiatives.
- Collaborate on application development, testing, and deployment.
- Monitor systems and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Gain exposure to service management and operational excellence.
- Advance the Bank’s data catalog to create a more accessible and well-governed data environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Junior-level standing or higher is preferred.
- At least 1 year of participation in clubs, volunteerism, or other activities outside the classroom.
- Familiarity with IT concepts such as networking, servers, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, or networking tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to document processes and follow technical procedures accurately.
- Initiative and a desire to learn.
- Ability to demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience, including teamwork and leading by example.

- Locations: Rochester, Buffalo, and Warsaw, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Compensation: 18 USD per hour.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
