About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Winter 2027 based in Perrysburg, Ohio. You will work on-site to support our Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) team. The role involves a mix of software development, system maintenance, and cross-departmental collaboration. You will complete a defined project based on current business needs and present your findings to the leadership team at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Develop software solutions following industry best practices.
- Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Write unit tests using frameworks like xUnit.
- Troubleshoot software issues and pair with developers on tier 3 support.
- Attend daily production and operational team meetings.
- Interface with other departments to define project requirements.
- Optimize the collection and reporting of manufacturing metrics and KPIs.
- Work with operations personnel to build and display manufacturing dashboards.
- Create infrastructure and behavior testing for manufacturing software.
- Design front-end components for Design of Experiment software.
- Develop and fine-tune natural language models interfacing with GPT.
- Assist with the development of the MES Live Monitoring System and the Remote Operations Center.
- Convert legacy applications to modern tool chains using Ignition.
- Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor, Master, or PhD program, with at least two years of major coursework completed in Computer Science or a related field.
- Completion of significant coursework in Object Oriented Programming and Relational Database Management.
- Experience with Data Structures and Algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python, C#, or SQL.
- Experience with front-end JavaScript.
- Knowledge of scripting technologies like PowerShell.
- Familiarity with reporting tools and Generative AI tools.
- Interest in build and deployment automation, including Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, or Kubernetes.
- Previous experience developing software or supporting technical applications.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes is helpful.
