About the role#
Fenner Precision Polymers is hiring a Summer 2027 intern for the New Product Development Textile Engineering team in Lititz, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship focused on textile product development, testing, and process engineering.
What you'll do#
- Conduct lab testing on technical textiles, including tensile, tear, EPI, PPI, and weight measurements.
- Create 3D models for new fixtures, product prototypes, and weave patterns.
- Support R&D projects by researching applications for alternative fabrics like quartz and MWPE.
- Learn the components and operational processes of rapier looms.
- Update technical documentation and specifications to current formats.
- Use emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools to assist with data analysis, content creation, and operational efficiency.
What you'll need#
- At least two years of college completed in a related field, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to create 3D models using Solidworks.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles such as stress, strain, and coefficient of friction.
- Experience with statistical analysis of test results.
- Working knowledge of lab equipment and software, including MTS, hot presses, and the Microsoft package.
- Ability to record and interpret lab test data.
- Practical problem-solving skills.
