About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship with the Fenner R&D Engineering Team in Manheim, Pennsylvania. You will work on individual and cross-functional projects throughout the summer of 2027. The role involves supporting capital and process engineering needs while reporting to an Engineering Supervisor or Manager. You will also participate in professional development, community outreach, and a final presentation for the executive leadership team.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior staff in understanding product design to meet both standard and customer-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with product suppliers, manufacturing engineering, and production teams to determine product manufacturability.
- Interface with lab and manufacturing personnel on new design projects to ensure production needs are met.
- Use emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools to support data analysis, project work, and operational efficiency.
- Research unfamiliar technical areas and serve as a resource for engineering questions.
- Contribute to specific R&D projects including material handling development, next-generation belt design, and drawing development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program or related field.
- Completion of at least one year of college or technical school.
- Proficiency in 3-D modeling using SolidWorks.
- An aptitude for mechanical design.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Previous exposure to mechanical engineering through school or work is a plus.
