About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience within the Accounts Payable and Internal Reporting group at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. You will work alongside senior team members to learn how an internal bank department operates, focusing on financial processes, audit regulations, and financial statement analysis. This is a full-time, on-site position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Learn the Accounts Payable process flow and internal controls.
- Assist with the invoice processing system and ensure supplier payments are handled efficiently.
- Create journal vouchers for the general ledger.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts with the Internal Reporting team.
- Analyze data, build reports, and create presentations for team meetings.
- Participate in internal Tableau training to develop reporting skills.
- Serve as a main point of contact for employees regarding internal accounting procedures.
- Support administrative functions and participate in bank-wide events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program at an accredited institution.
- Completion of at least your freshman year, with sophomore status or higher.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 and good academic standing.
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Access is a plus.
- An academic track in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or Computer Science.
