About the role#
Farmers Insurance is hiring an Actuarial Intern for a paid, full-time summer 2027 program. You will join an actuarial team to see how risk decisions affect insurance operations. This role involves working on real business problems alongside project mentors and leads. You will gain exposure to the tools and technology used in the industry while interacting with leadership.
What you'll do#
- Support data compilation for loss trending and exposure analysis.
- Assist with rate model calculations and validation.
- Contribute to loss ratio reporting and reserve analysis.
- Participate in inter-team handoff meetings to understand cross-functional impacts.
- Contribute to process documentation or minor analytical projects.
- Shadow senior staff on strategic decisions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, BA, MS, or MA degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Must be a rising Junior, Senior, or graduate student.
- At least one actuarial exam passed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manipulate and analyze data to solve business problems.
- Willingness to learn independently and contribute to a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Exposure to at least one programming language, such as Python, R, SQL, or VBA, is preferred.
Location & details#
- This internship is located on-site in Woodland Hills, California.
- The program duration is 10 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, paid position.
