About the role#
This internship provides an introduction to the insurance industry for freshman or sophomore college students. You will work within the Underwriting Shared Services department to support personal, commercial, and agriculture underwriting teams. The program focuses on hands-on project work, networking across the organization, and learning about corporate operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff underwriters with daily tasks and department projects.
- Support various business units through assigned responsibilities.
- Participate in corporate activities to gain industry exposure.
- Network with employees in different areas of the company.
- Engage in shared internship experiences focused on culture and leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student, ideally as a freshman or sophomore.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Finance, or Agriculture.
- Ability to learn new concepts and understand property insurance policies quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions.
- Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time position located in West Des Moines, Iowa.
- You must be available to work 38.75 hours per week during Summer 2027.
- This is a paid internship.
