About the role#
This internship provides a practical introduction to the insurance industry at Farm Bureau Financial Services. You will gain experience in claims processes and corporate operations while working on real projects. The program balances daily department tasks with networking and professional development activities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with storm and non-storm claims projects.
- Conduct coverage reviews and manage total loss paperwork.
- Follow up on claims and support customers during the busy storm season.
- Learn internal Claims Best Practices and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in corporate activities to build your understanding of our organization and culture.
What you'll need#
- You are a current college student, preferably a Junior or Senior.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- Strong computer skills, with familiarity in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn new systems and insurance concepts quickly.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- You are team-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable asking questions.
- You are comfortable speaking on the telephone, as this will occupy about 25 percent of your time.

Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time paid internship for Summer 2027.
- You will work 38.75 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM.
- The role is based in our West Des Moines, Iowa office.
