Process Engineering Student

About the role#

ExxonMobil is seeking a Process Engineering Student for a full-time, on-site internship at the Strathcona Refinery in Edmonton, Alberta, starting in September 2026. Working under the guidance of staff Chemical Engineers, you will gain practical experience in petrochemical refining processes, process safety, process controls, and unit optimization. This position is designed to support the safe, reliable, and profitable operation of process units.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with stakeholders, including operations, reliability, process technical, and automation engineers.
• Identify, develop, and implement operational and facility improvements with a focus on safety, reliability, economics, and sustainability.
• Effectively communicate the status of unit operations, improvement opportunities, and operating costs to various stakeholders.
• Work within cross-functional teams on sustainability initiatives.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Must be returning to full-time studies following the work term.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and contribute effectively in a team-based environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety on and off the job.
