About the role#
This position is for a Process Engineering Student at the Strathcona Refinery in Edmonton. Working under the guidance of staff Chemical Engineers, you will gain experience in petrochemical refining processes, process safety, process controls, and unit optimization. This role focuses on supporting the safe, reliable, and profitable operation of process units.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including operations, reliability, process technical, and automation engineers, to support safe and reliable unit operation.
- Identify, develop, and implement operational and facility improvements with a focus on safety, reliability, economics, and sustainability.
- Work with cross-functional teams on sustainability initiatives.
- Effectively communicate the status of unit operations, improvement opportunities, and operating costs to various stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a University Engineering program, studying to achieve a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Must be returning to full-time studies after the work term.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A commitment to safety on and off the job.
- Submission of your most recent unofficial transcript is required with your application.
