About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will join the Sarnia site team to support either the Machinery or Fixed Equipment Engineering Groups. You will work alongside experienced technical, maintenance, and process personnel to improve production capability, equipment reliability, and maintenance efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Develop knowledge in the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of plant machinery like pumps, fans, compressors, motors, and turbines.
- Troubleshoot and analyze machinery operational challenges.
- Progress safety, reliability, and cost-improvement items for budget planning.
- Support Risk Based Work Selection activities and equipment failure analysis.
- Update and improve machinery maintenance strategies.
- Learn relevant Ontario and Canadian codes and standards, including CSA B51 and the Ontario Safety Codes Act.
- Assist with equipment calculations for fixed assets such as piping, valves, towers, and exchangers.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations.
- Generate proposals, scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop mechanical specifications for routine and turnaround repair work.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a Canadian Accredited University.
- Must be returning to full-time studies after the work term.
- Available for a work term starting in May 2027.
- Demonstrated leadership and strong academic performance.
- A valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A commitment to safety and a results-oriented mindset.
- Previous industry experience is helpful but not required.
- You must submit your most recent unofficial transcript with your application.
