About the role#
Exegy is seeking a Software Automation Developer Intern to join our team in Montreal. This role treats software testing as a core development task. You will build scalable capabilities, backend utilities, and reusable code that support our market data platforms. Working with experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to high-performance financial technology while contributing to production-grade software.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain automated test scripts, libraries, and utilities using Python.
- Integrate automated test coverage, validation gates, and health checks into CI/CD pipelines.
- Write clean, reusable code for functional, integration, regression, and system testing.
- Learn about financial markets, trading systems, and high-performance software environments.
- Explore the use of developer-assistance tools and AI platforms for test generation, log analysis, and diagnostic workflows.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint activities, and technical discussions.
- Document test results, framework usage, and bug reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong foundational knowledge and hands-on experience with Python.
- Exposure to C++ or Linux environments.
- A desire to replace manual testing with reliable, automated code.
- Basic understanding of object-oriented design, version control with Git, and reusable code components.
- Interest in financial technology, trading systems, and the software development lifecycle.
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and clear communication.
