About the role#
The Cyber Security Internship at ERCOT offers practical experience across various areas of information and cyber security. You will work 40 hours per week during the summer of 2027 to support our security teams with projects, research, and daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with security projects, assessments, research, and operational tasks.
- Support the identification, analysis, and remediation of security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Contribute to security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, architecture, or governance activities.
- Develop and maintain security documentation, procedures, standards, inventories, and reports.
- Prepare and present project results and recommendations to leadership and other stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year of study.
- A GPA of 3.0 or better.
- An understanding of basic cyber security concepts and principles.
- Basic knowledge of networks and IT systems.

- This position is based on-site in Taylor, Texas.
- The internship runs from May 2027 through August 2027.
- This is a paid, full-time role requiring 40 hours per week.
