About the role#
The Midstream Electrical Engineer Intern position is a 12-week summer program. You will work with the Midstream Engineering Services team to design and develop electrical systems for compressor stations, dehydration facilities, and other infrastructure. This role allows you to apply your classroom knowledge to energy projects and gain experience in the design and execution of electrical systems for natural gas operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering and project management teams in the design, specification, and review of electrical systems.
- Prepare and revise one-line diagrams, load calculations, grounding plans, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
- Collaborate on control system integration for motors, switchgear, and transformers.
- Participate in drawing reviews and technical evaluations of vendor equipment.
- Visit compressor stations and other sites to observe installation practices and verify as-built conditions.
- Maintain electrical design files, data sheets, and project documentation.
- Research and prepare reports or presentations on electrical reliability, efficiency, or safety.
- Apply safety and operational standards, including NEC and API codes.
- Work with mechanical, civil, and automation teams to understand system integration.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Interest in energy infrastructure, power systems, or industrial electrical design.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, motor control, and power distribution.
- Technical, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver license and the ability to travel locally to project sites.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in the Pittsburgh and Canonsburg, Pennsylvania area.
- You will work on-site, with potential field assignments at various midstream operating locations.
