About the role#
Elevance Health is seeking a Tax Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a 12-week, full-time program running from May 17, 2027, to August 6, 2027. You will support the Tax department with income tax compliance, tax accounting, audit defense, and various special projects. This role provides exposure to federal, state, sales, use, property, and insurance premium taxes.
What you'll do#
- Assist with federal and state income tax compliance and tax accounting.
- Support ongoing state and federal tax audits.
- Perform data analysis and tax modeling to assist with process improvement.
- Prepare selected tax filings while analyzing tax developments and their impact on business units.
- Research and execute analysis of tax laws.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BA or BS degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Access.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- An interest in pursuing a career in taxation, with a CPA path preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring associates to be in the office 1 to 2 days per week.
- Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office location.
- This internship is a paid, full-time position. Sponsorship is not provided.
