About the role#
This is a long-term, year-round cooperative education position based at our Midland and Auburn, Michigan sites. Unlike short-term projects, this role requires a minimum commitment of one full calendar year while you continue your undergraduate studies. You will work alongside scientists and technologists to provide technical support for experimental activities and material characterization.
What you'll do#
- Prepare samples and characterize materials using instruments like Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography (LC), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
- Manage and execute laboratory work requests while documenting experimental data.
- Perform calibration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting for laboratory equipment.
- Maintain inventories of chemicals, consumables, and laboratory supplies.
- Participate in team meetings focused on safety, process improvement, and problem solving.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at an accredited college or university located near the Midland or Auburn sites.
- Pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 6 credit hours per term during both the Fall and Winter terms.
- Availability to work at least 16 hours each week during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm).
- Ability to work legally in the United States without visa sponsorship.
