About the role#
The Advanced Technology Group is the research division at Dolby. We develop technologies that shape the future of entertainment and media. As a PhD Research Intern, you will work alongside our experts to define and lead a novel research project. You will contribute to innovations that connect technical research with real-world media experiences. This role offers the chance to work on projects across domains like automotive, smart glasses, live sports, and human-machine interfaces.

What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Neuroscience, Music Technology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- A strong research background shown through publications, patents, prototypes, projects, demos, or technical reports.
- Experience applying advanced algorithms, machine learning, data science, signal processing, computer vision, or related methods to real-world problems.
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++, MATLAB, or similar programming and research tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Curiosity and openness to learning from others.
- A passion for advancing technologies that enhance audio, video, media, entertainment, and human experiences.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, 12-week internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in San Francisco, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, or Atlanta, GA.
- This position follows a hybrid work model.
- This is a paid internship.
