About the role#
This is a part-time position designed to provide real-world experience in the biopharmaceutical field. You will support both Donor Services and Bioprocess Development teams, working 20-25 hours per week on a schedule flexible to your classes. This role is intended to grow into a full-time position with increased independence over time.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the setup and execution of developmental studies.
- Procure and culture tissue to meet development needs.
- Perform aseptic processing within a biological safety cabinet.
- Collect and maintain documentation for tissue release processes.
- Record laboratory data in internal management systems.
- Analyze test results and write report summaries.
- Follow standard operating procedures and protocols under GLP or GMP conditions.
- Clean laboratory spaces and attend technical team meetings.
- Work with external organizations and stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Up to 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting, including previous internships.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong math skills for problem-solving.
- Willingness to work with human cells and tissue.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Experience with aseptic technique is preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah.
- This is a paid, non-full-time internship with a rolling start date.
- You must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and perform physical tasks like standing, bending, and kneeling in a lab environment.
