About the role#
This is a summer internship for students pursuing degrees in Agriculture or Biology. You will work on-site at our Foundation Seed Production facility in Decatur, Illinois. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in production research and exposure to various parts of the business. You will receive coaching and feedback throughout the term to help you develop professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Collect information and analyze corn inbred lines.
- Conduct seed inventory and perform stand counts.
- Review flowering data and perform plant measurements.
- Learn about integrated pest management.
- Develop and complete a project tailored to help the company thrive and report results to leadership.
- Develop new solutions to meet company and departmental goals.
- Build relationships with resource partners, cohorts, and leaders across the organization.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Agriculture or Biology.
- Prior internship or work experience is highly desired.
- Ability to work outdoors 60% of the time and walk fields.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet Motor Vehicle requirements.
- Willingness to relocate if you are not in the local area.
