About the role#
The Student Insurance Coordinator reports to the Director of Wellness and manages the initiation, marketing, and maintenance of the DePaul Student Insurance program. This role educates students on American health insurance and maintains communication with internal and external partners. The coordinator plans and implements messaging consistent with the university identity and supports students, parents, staff, and faculty with access to necessary resources.
What you'll do#
- Act as a liaison between DePaul stakeholders, carriers, and third-party administrators to address questions regarding benefits, policies, and insurance usage.
- Prepare and present materials for orientation and health care management throughout the academic year.
- Monitor and respond to email correspondence regarding student insurance.
- Manage eligibility verification, qualifying student groups, individual account management, and provider identification.
- Complete service tasks for community members and partners.
- Maintain routine customer service hours for drop-in support.
- Provide oversight and mentoring to Peer Health Educators for campus wellness campaigns.
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines, including FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with invoicing, expenses, and the management of the Student Health Fee.
What you'll need#
- Bachelors degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in customer service, data entry, or health insurance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of terminology commonly used in healthcare and health insurance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively within a team of health professionals.
- Commitment to the Vincentian values and mission of the university.
