About the role#
As a Safety Manager/Coordinator Intern, you will join our safety department to support the health and safety programs for our industrial construction projects. You will work alongside Construction Managers and Senior Safety Managers to establish site procedures, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote accident prevention across our teams.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety programs.
- Prepare and deliver safety toolbox talks and training topics for contractors.
- Create and enforce Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) documents.
- Conduct and document safety observations on job sites.
- Investigate accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Review subcontractor safety pre-qualification submittals.
- Compile and distribute reports on incident rates and accident metrics.
- Support and educate personnel on injury prevention procedures.
- Attend and prepare safety actions for project meetings.
- Research construction safety best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior or Senior status in a Bachelor’s degree program for Health and Safety, Risk Management, or Construction.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in construction projects, safety training coordination, or job site inspections.
- Proficiency in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- OSHA training certification is preferred.
- Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required.
- Physical ability to traverse construction sites, including walking on uneven surfaces, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

- Location: Boone, Iowa (with required travel to job sites across North America).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- This is a paid internship.
