About the role#
Process Engineers at Dennis Group design and build food and beverage processing facilities. You will work on projects from the conceptual stage through design completion and construction. This role involves collaboration across multiple disciplines including controls, packaging, mechanical, and electrical systems to improve operational efficiency for our clients.
What you'll do#
- Develop process design basis, operation specifications, and unit operations.
- Create process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Prepare mass and energy balances.
- Size and specify process and utility equipment.
- Manage equipment procurement and bid evaluations.
- Assist project management with scope, budget, and schedule development.
- Coordinate with contractors for equipment installation and oversee the installation process.
- Work with clients and vendors to develop cost estimates and proposals.
- Provide onsite construction start-up and commissioning support.
- Research engineering best practices and support team growth.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status pursuing a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Experience with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
- A motivated and results oriented attitude.
- Interest in food safety, sanitary design principles, and industry regulations.
- Familiarity with process flow diagrams and P&IDs is preferred.
- Previous experience in food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or sanitary environments is a plus.

- Location: Austin, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Travel requirement: 30-50% of the year for construction project coordination.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and sit at a desk for prolonged periods.
