About the role#
Dennis Group hires interns to join our mechanical department in Carlsbad, California. You will work with our engineering and architectural teams to design mechanical systems for food and beverage production facilities. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations.
- Conduct code reviews for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs.
- Assist in mechanical system design development and coordinate with team members.
- Perform mass energy balance calculations.
- Create project documents such as calculations, reports, and construction drawings.
- Travel to project sites and other offices as needed, roughly 10-25% of the time.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Familiarity with heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Experience with engineering design programs like AutoCAD or Revit.
- HVAC or utilities design experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to sit at a desk for long periods and lift up to 15 pounds.
