About the role#
As a Controls Engineer Co-Op, you will work with our process, packaging, and building engineers to design and build food and beverage processing facilities. You will assist in the startup, commissioning, and qualification of production lines and equipment. This role requires regular on-site presence at client facilities to handle troubleshooting and operational tasks.
What you'll do#
- Design and troubleshoot software and hardware for control systems, including PLC applications and interfaces.
- Automate manufacturing processes using instrumentation and controls.
- Specify, procure, and configure electrical equipment like MCCs, transformers, and control panels.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network infrastructures such as Ethernet, DeviceNet, and Profibus.
- Develop bid documentation for automation and low voltage vendors.
- Document technical specifications and operating procedures.
- Interface with and manage installation contractors during construction.
- Research automation materials and best practices.
- Resolve malfunctions and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
- Handle basic issues and escalate complex problems to higher-level engineers.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience or schooling in industrial manufacturing settings.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, or Honeywell systems.
- Knowledge of design and implementation for process network infrastructures.
- Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a professional and self-motivated manner.
- Experience with Visual Basic, SQL, or MS Access is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Duluth, Georgia, USA.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Travel: Up to 50% travel is required to visit project sites.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to sit at a desk for long periods, stand or walk during site commissioning, and lift up to 30 pounds.
