About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role helps you gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow all company standard operating procedures.
- Manage pharmacy workflow at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service by solving patient problems and offering immunizations or other health services.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Mentor pharmacy team members and provide in-the-moment coaching.
- Handle basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and putting away deliveries.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and complete training to become a Technician Immunizer.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in active listening, verbal communication, and mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
- Capacity to concentrate on tasks, pivot between duties, and confirm label accuracy.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like reaching, bending, and stooping.
